Hi, I'm Rachel Chamness — Shamanic Channel, Liquid Reiki Sound Healing Channel, and the founder of Sound Waves Heal. I've been guiding lightworkers, healers, and spiritual seekers for years through sessions, courses, and my TAG Lightworkers membership. And every spring, I pack up for the mountains with one of my closest collaborators, Missy Sullivan of Dragon Light Warrior, to host what I genuinely consider one of the most powerful things we offer all year.
The Friends of the Fae Retreat is a small-group women's retreat in Tennessee running April 23 to 27, 2026. Why the Smoky Mountains Feel Like the Right Place for This
I've held retreats in these mountains for several years now, and every single time, the land does something that I can't fully explain in a brochure.
There's a charge here. Missy and I call it Mama Mountain — this ancient, breathing presence that holds the whole area. But here's the thing I want to be honest about: the charge isn't just the mountain. It's what happens when a group of women come together with clear intention, step into the spiritual realms together, and start raising the frequency of the space. That's the real engine.
Nature makes it easier. The mountains, the trees, the mist, being away from ordinary life — all of it lowers resistance and opens the field. Tennessee also has a lot of quartz running through the land, which can amplify spiritual work. We could do this kind of work in a lot of places. But in nature, in the mountains, with that quartz beneath our feet? It moves faster.
What the mountain does to group energy
One of the things I've noticed consistently across all of our retreats is that what takes weeks or months of solo practice at home can happen in hours in this setting.
Jo Ann had been trying to channel for nearly three years. She'd taken courses, practiced at home, done everything right — but she kept hitting walls. Then she flew to Tennessee for one of our retreats. Within days, she was channeling Buddha. Then Jesus, who showed up with a cheerful “Hey y'all” that made the whole cabin burst out laughing. Sacred and hilarious. That's exactly the frequency of this place.
Part of what makes that happen is the group container. When you're surrounded by women who are all holding the same high-vibration intention — all channeling, healing, and staying open together — your own gifts get pulled into that field. It's one of the most powerful arguments for in-person retreat over any online program. The mountain adds another layer on top of that.
This year's focus: Fae of Air and Artemis
Each year the retreat has a specific theme that shapes both the spiritual work and the activities we build around it. For 2026 we're working with the Fae of Air — Air Dragons, Sylphs, Air Fairies, and Unicorns — alongside the fierce and beautiful energy of Artemis, goddess of the hunt, and wild instinct.
Artemis brings focus, confidence, personal power, and the willingness to aim at what you actually want. The Air Fae bring lightness, intuitive clarity, and the kind of expanded perception that makes your clairs feel like they've been rebirthed.
Put them together and you get a retreat that's both grounding and expansive. Strong and soft. Sacred and a little bit wild. Which is why we're doing archery and axe throwing. Because sometimes Artemis energy calls for an actual bow.
Everything Included in This Women's Spiritual Retreat
I want to give you the full picture of what these five days actually hold, because there's a lot — and I want you to see how it all fits together.
Sound healing and Liquid Reiki to open the retreat
We start on arrival day with a group Liquid Reiki sound healing session that I lead personally. This isn't background music while people settle in. This is an active, intentional clearing — blocks released, intentions set, the whole group's energy brought into coherence before we begin. It creates a baseline of openness that makes everything else that follows land more deeply.
Readings, healings, and channeled messages — held for everyone
This retreat works entirely within a group container — which is actually where the deepest healing happens. I hold space for everyone together, and within that container I give readings, channeled messages, and healings to each guest. Everyone receives. Everyone goes through something real.
This is one of the reasons I keep group sizes small. Not to create a roster of individual appointments, but because in a small group, I can actually hold space for each woman, track what's expanding for her, and make sure nothing important gets missed. The group field amplifies the work. What heals one person in the room often ripples through everyone in it.
Fae of Air and Artemis attunements
These are energetic upgrades — attunements that align your field to the specific frequency of the Fae of Air and Artemis. After an attunement, connecting with these beings becomes more natural, more familiar. The communication is cleaner. The guidance is clearer.
We also do a guided meditation specifically to meet your fae guide — your personal fae companion who has been with you, whether you've known it or not.
Live trance channeling sessions
Every day includes live trance channeling — me dropping into the channel space and bringing through messages, healing, and guidance from whichever beings are present for the group. Missy and some of our more advanced guests may channel as well, so the field can open from multiple directions. These sessions are completely unscripted and tend to produce the moments that guests talk about for months afterward. You never know quite what's coming through. That's part of why it's so alive.
Jan Coe's live sound bath
I'll just say it: Jan Coe is the best sound healer I have ever experienced. Missy agrees. Jan arrives with a full circle of instruments — gongs, chimes, singing bowls, and things I don't have names for — and the sound bath she creates is genuinely otherworldly.
Jan and I also sing vocal light language together as part of her session, which creates something that guests consistently describe as one of the most powerful experiences of the whole retreat.
The Manifesting Game — silly on purpose, and that's why it works
This is one of my favorite parts of every retreat, and it always catches people off guard.
The Manifesting Game asks you to speak about what you want as if it's already true. Not “I want a new creative business.” “I'm so excited about how my creative business is already growing!” You say it with joy, with specificity, with the feeling of it being real — and then you keep going until the laughter sets in and the energy lifts.
Missy and her sister Danielle played the game at a past retreat where they kept affirming they were going to open their own metaphysical shop. They did the game in May. By September they'd opened the doors. Missy jokes she almost couldn't come back the following year because she was so busy running it.
You create the feeling of the thing already being real — and your energy starts matching that frequency. The law of attraction is less about wanting and more about already being.
The Ancient Lore field trip: archery, axe throwing, and brunch
Yes. This is real, and it is as wonderful as it sounds. Grits, cinnamon rolls and pure fun.
We take a group field trip to Ancient Lore Village in Tennessee for a morning of brunch, archery, and axe throwing. It's our Artemis day in practice. You've spent time connecting to the energy of the huntress, the focused and instinctual feminine power — and then you go and actually aim at a target with a bow.
It's grounding. It's fun. It's slightly ridiculous. And it's one of the moments from our retreats that guests bring up again and again when they talk about what they remember most.
Free time, hot tub, crystal shops, and stargazing
I build in genuine breathing room every day. Unstructured afternoon space to decompress, integrate, and simply be in one of the most beautiful settings in Tennessee.
Guests use this time for hot tub soaks, trips to the crystal shops nearby, walks in the mountain air, or just sitting on the porch watching the mist come in. Some practice their own modalities with each other. Some nap. Some just stare at the mountains and let it all land.
We also do stargazing in the evenings, and the skies here are extraordinary. At one past retreat, the group watched what looked like a large luminous fae come up to the cabin windows. They also saw formations in the clouds that seemed to move with intention. Whether you interpret those as mystical, symbolic, or simply memorable — they happen.

The cabin itself is set up for this kind of work. Multiple porches on every level, mountain views that stop you mid-sentence, a jacuzzi, game room, and common spaces that feel like somewhere you'd actually want to spend five days. And yes — catered meals by Chef David, who gets a personal shoutout from every single guest who's ever eaten his food.

I want to share two stories from women who've attended our retreats, because they capture something a list of activities simply can't.
Jo Ann: three years of trying, then a breakthrough in the mountains
Jo Ann had been working on channeling since around 2020 or 2021. She'd taken classes, practiced consistently at home — and she kept running into something that blocked her. She described different interferences — an entity in her house disrupting her attempts, low-vibration conditions that made it hard to stay open.

What if I've never been to a spiritual retreat before?
This is actually a beautiful retreat for a first-time experience, precisely because of how grounded and safe it feels. Missy and I both hold the space actively — nobody is left to figure things out alone. Women who come without much prior experience consistently describe feeling welcomed, not overwhelmed.
Is this just for Fae practitioners, or can I come if I'm new to Fae energy?
Totally new is absolutely fine. The attunements and guided meditations create a real introduction to your fae guides — not a session that builds on assumed existing connection. Many guests have their first meaningful fae experience at this retreat. That's one of the things we love most about it.
